The missionof the WMEA is to further the advancement of music education in Wyoming throughpublic and private instruction, and encourage lifelong appreciation of andinvolvement in music.

The WMEA is a non-profit education association, organized inorder to promote music and music education for life-long learning. The focus ofthe association is on the general public, and is intended for public andprivate music teachers of all levels and types.
It is our belief that music of all cultures is a valuableasset to humanity, with artistic merit and a rich range of learning andperformance opportunities that can be carried into later life. Our aim is tomake music education valuable and available to all children in Wyoming and tofacilitate teacher development in all areas of music education.
In order to accomplish these objectives, we provide studentopportunities for education and performance; we have developed and published,online and in print, all manner of information on Wyoming music activities forstudents and teachers. In this way, we will be providing an increased array ofresources, useful for people at any level of knowledge or interest. We attemptto help the newcomer, provide ongoing information to all members, and developprofessional feedback for progress in the profession.
WMEA believes in the significance of the life-longparticipation in and enjoyment of music. We believe music-making is part of anenriched and balanced education. Thus we continue to support both new andtraditional methods, programs and performance idioms to create rich, artisticlife opportunities. We do not aim to create professional musicians only, butrather to put the lessons of the music classroom to work in our contemporaryworld as both performers and those who appreciate music performance. WMEA shallbe the voice for music as an essential part of education in Wyoming. We supportmusic and creativity, and our ultimate goal is to enrich the human spirit.
