The Wyoming Music Educators Association (WMEA) members include Kindergarten - 12th grade, college/university, and private music instructors throughout the state of Wyoming. The membership is diverse by geography, grade level and area of expertise. Public, private and parochial teachers are represented in our active, collegiate, and retired membership.

WMEA is a non-profit 501(c)(3) association. WMEA is the state unit of MENC: the National Association for Music Education, the largest arts advocacy organization in the world. The intent of the association is to offer professional development for music teachers, provide opportunities for all music students to explore and excel in the arts, and to serve as an advocate for music education in the schools of Wyoming.

WMEA serves the members of the association by providing teacher in-service at the two-day State Conference held in January during All-State Music. Noted clinicians from the state, region and nation, provide sessions that focus on professional development at all levels and content areas - band, choral, strings, elementary, higher education and general interest.

WMEA provides student enrichment through the three All-State music groups, Band, Orchestra and Choir, which draw from the entire state. From the 1500 students who audition, about 400 musicians are selected by live audition from Wyoming's secondary schools. The Wyoming High School Activities Association sponsors the event. Student musicians prepare the music in advance and then spend two days of rehearsal with a nationally recognized conductor and give a gala concert performance at the close of the conference. Rehearsals at All-State are open for teacher observation during the state conference.

WMEA provides opportunities for teachers to train in music adjudication and maintains a list of qualified judges for district solo and ensemble events throughout the state. Thousands of students across the state of Wyoming participate in district music clinics and festivals throughout the year.

WMEA also provides support for the Collegiate Festival performing ensembles.
